The Noisettes

Festival Overview

Long admired for their hard-gigging, hard-rocking, disco-popping ways, The Noisettes have this year become something like a phenomenon with the release of the soultastic single Don't Upset the Rhythm. Frontwoman Shingai's electrifying stage presence is helped by a gloriously chequered CV that includes stints as a circus artist and burlesque performer, but the point of it all is her showstopping voice. Second album Wild Young Hearts is packed with songs that manage to be at once radio-friendly and informed by the band's lifetimes of muso geekery, with nods to 1970s prog rock as well as uber-fashionable 80s disco inflections. Camden Crawl was a blast – repeat the experience at Bestival and Ray-Ban Rooms.

'Now signed to a major, and apparently on the verge of a Ting Tings-style breakthrough, Noisettes have become a sophisticated pop group whose focal point is the talented singer/bassist Shingai Shoniwa' — The Guardian

'Wild Young Hearts sways from vintage disco to quite angry 21st century rock with poise, elegance and a shiny crystalline production that gives singer/bassist Shingai Shoniwa the showcase her vocals deserve' — BBC
